Artificial Life, the breakthough in modern era of Science, Religious and my views
Recently the creation of artificial life by our scientist was announced to the public led by the researcher Dr, Craig Venter, of the J Craig Venter Institute (JCVI) in Maryland and California, they built their own genes to create life-like bacteria called bacterium’s synthetic DNA ( genetic software), that they transplanted into a host cell, after several failed attempts they successfully made microbe behaved like the species “dictated” by the synthetic DNA, which include self-replication in the laboratory. although this announcement doesn’t create a much greater impact from the general public but to the most scientist this has been acclaimed as one of scientific milestone believing that it’s an achievement worthy of heralding a new era of medicine and technology.
The scientist was also aiming to come out with design bacterial cells that will produce medicines and fuels and even fight diseases and will enable filter or locked up greenhouse and dissolve toxic waste. However religious communities, healthcare and healthcare insurance companies find it debatable, they cannot agree with this matter, some critics monitoring genetic technologies giving more unlikely feedback regarding this development, they say there are dangers posed by synthetic organisms, causing pollution or even making biological weapons and they warned the researcher that playing God could be dangerous.
In my own point of views, sustaining or prolonging the life of ill-dying patients and far-advance development in technology for treating incurable diseases are highly appreciated, I would like to state my mind in due to this matter, I’m also expecting that my stance would be hurled and I’m aware that dichotomy between science and my conviction can’t be avoided. For me science should not challenge God this time. We are intellectually being endowed by God to aid, alleviate the needs and to work for solution and upgrade the lifestyle of the people, but not to the extent of taking life away nor making artificial life.
This is totally making redundancy and mockery to our God. We are human born not just with flesh and body but with spirit and soul. We cannot just by-passed God’s power, God’s breath and spirit live in us and give us our precious life the we are enjoying right now as a gift to us. Yes how ironic they can boastfully exalt their creation of artificial life, and that they can save life and prolong it, but still no one can save our soul, It’s always been God, almighty who has the final judgement for it. And “I think it’s very important to maintain the classical Christian distinction between the Creator and creation”.
We forget our limit, science really go overboard this time, like what the saying goes “But once you have satisfied your material needs, which I think every wealth creator should – the house, the car, the plane, the boat – what comes next?” by Tom Hunter; now the scientist even taking the role of God into their hands, such a sad reality of uncontented human. This announcement would surely bring about more debates, controversies and protest concerning this and those discrepancies will never, never be settled.
